I graduated Okikamuro elementary school in 1995. It has already passed 66 years since when everybody left dimly green island hearing the gong of Boyo Kisen(a liner) to look for own way with feeling of many though.
What we can look up is Shirakiyama mountain, what we can look around is a calm wave of Suonada. The hometown is a great place forever.
It is like a dream that everybody danced all through the night at Susaki and Homura where there was the Bon Festival dance.
All pine trees on the hill has died and many vegitable fields has become bush. I was concerning about a tangerine and pine trees, but the Okikamuro Ohashi(the bridge between Okikamuro and Suo-Oshima) which everybody dreamed has completed in 1983. Therefore even though I thought the Bon Festival dance would be prosperous so that the island would like to sink as long time ago, it is gradually going to be decline by going through the age.
people to take the lead, people to sing, people to beat a drum, people to dance, it is just going to decline year by year.
I hope people who are member of Kamuro party at Ube, Hiroshima, Osaka and Tokyo go back to the island for the Bon once a year to service ancestors soul and to light your house on the island in evening glow and I would like you to dance all through the night together.
