Mr. Yagi Masatomo,
It's been a while. I hope you are well.
I'm interested in Yanagihara Kanekichi’s roots which the Kamuro party looking for. This is mentioned in your recent post. so I've done some research, but I couldn't find any relatives. Yanagihara Kanekichi's name appears in the "Kamuro magazine Reprint Volumes 1-3" edited by Hakuseiji, and I can see that his business in Hilo was thriving. Gregory Yanagihara also seems interested in the connection between Kamuro Yanagihara and the Kono family, so I've attached some research I did in the past. Please take a look if you'd like.

The Okikamuro Yanagiwara family has ties to Kono Michihito and the Noshima Murakami Navy, so I traced it back to Kono Michihito. Kono Michihito was the second son of Michiari's third son Michitane. He inherited the family name of Imaoka and was also called Imaoka Michihito. |
1334 | (first year of Kenmu), during the Nakasendai Rebellion (where Ashikaga Tadayoshi assassinated Prince Morinaga) |
he played an active role at Hakuryu Castle and Sekiryu-mountain.
Michihito had his base in Noshima. He called himself Imaoka, and was the sworn brother of Murakami Yoshihiro, the head of the early Murakami navy, and served as vice commander of the Murakami navy. He was the lord of Amasaki Castle in Omishima and built Kashima Castle (Yanagiwara’s teritory).
Michihito is mentioned in the "Yosho-ki." The "Yosho-ki" is a copy of the diary of "Imaoka Youkoken." "Imaoka Youkoken's notes" are included in the "Yosho-ki" and "Yoyo-Kono Kafu."
1338 | (third year of Engen), Murakami Yoshihiro built a new residence for Prince Kanenaga (Southern Court) |
as he was preparing for his expedition to Kyushu.
April 1365 | Michihito and Yoshihiro rescue Michiaki [Michinao] at Era Castle in Kazehaya County and send him off to Nomi Island. |
May | Leaves Arai-Oshima and moves to Suo-Oshima. |
July 17 | Michiaki and his party prepare their boats in Wada and head to Dazaifu in August. |
After escorting Kono Michiaki to the Kyushu Seiseifu, Michihito and Yoshihiro try to return to Yashirojima, but Yashirojima has already been occupied by the samurai Ouchi clan and they cannot land there, so they return to Bungo Takada. After that, the Iyo Navy continued to play an active role in Kyushu.
June 1368 | Michinao (Michiaki) receives permission from the Seiseifu and returns to his hometown of Iyo. |
1370-1376 | Murakami Yoshihiro dies. |
After Yoshihiro's death, It becomes later Murakami era and his deputy commander Michihito is exiled.
After the early Murakami family, Morokiyo, also of the Murakami clan (Shinano Province), took over the name of the Murakami Navy.
After Morokiyo, the Murakami Navy was divided into Noshima, Kurushima, and Innoshima, so-called the Santo Murakami Navy.
1379 | On November 6,the first year of the Koreki era (the 5th year of Tenju),the Kono army was ordered by Ashikaga Yoshimitsu to kill Hosokawa Yoriyuki, |
but was counterattacked by the Hosokawa army and defeated, with Michiaki, Saionji, and Michihito all killed in battle.
※I got above information on the Murakami Navy from "The Sengoku Navy and the Murakami Clan" by Morimoto Shigeru (an evidence base historical writer).
After Michiaki's death, the Kono family split into the main family and the Yoshu family.
1451~1481 | The main family and the Yoshu family frequently fought over the main family. The main force of the Yoshu family (the rebel army) was the Murakami Navy of Kurushima and Noshima. |

1522 | Michisada (the fifth lord of Kashima Castle after Michihito) is given the 6 characters honorific title of Rennyo Shonin. |
Michisada, who had a great respect for Rennyo Shonin, lamented the fight for the headship of the Kono family, and abandoned his castle and land to live in seclusion in the Hojo Central Region (Nakanishiuchi).
1531 | From this time until 1533, there was a dispute over the succession of the Kono family over Michiyasu of Kurushima. |

1573 | Kanzaemon Ishizaki, a retainer of the Kono clan, and others moved to Oshima Island. |
1579 | Kurushima forces attack Yanagiwara (Murakami Michifusa of Kurushima rebels against the Kono clan and captures the castle where the Kono clan is located) |
1580 | Michihide builds Senkoji Temple in Yanagiwara. |
1585 | The Kono clan falls. |
Michinao commits suicide (defeated by Hideyoshi's army at Takehara). The Kono clan disperses (changing their names and hiding in various places,
the rest become farmers, merchants, or serve the samurai, preserving their various households and performing ancestral rites. Many flee from Kono and Iyo to Oshima.
By order of Hideyoshi, the Noshima Murakami clan is forced to leave the Kurushima Straits and move their base to Takehara.
September 18, 1600 | Battle of Kariyahata at Mitsuhama |
This battle was fought to restore the Kono clan while Kato Yoshiaki was away at Sekigahara. The main force was the Noshima Murakami Navy. The clan suffered a crushing defeat after a surprise attack by Kato's army.
Noshima Murakami Kagechika (Takeyoshi's son) moves to Oshima.

After that, 11 of them moved to Okikamuro. The above is a legend from Kyubei's mother.
At that time, the eldest son Kyubei was around 10 years old, and his two daughters married into the villages of Agenosho and Funakoshi. One of the other sons seems to have lived in Miwa, Boshu, and the other in Himi Village, Oshima, but details are unknown.
1669 | Kyuemon's mother dies. |
1882 | Kyuemon dies (93 years old). |
The second head of the family was Yanagihara Taroemon (adopted son, his wife was Kyuemon's daughter Ohatsu), who was from Kawauchi Village, Agenosho, and was adopted because of his ancestral connection to his father in Kazahaya County, his home country. |
