According to Kako-cho of Okikamuro Tomozawa Family, Moto, the wife of Hikoshichi VIII who was a Shoya (Village Chief) of Okikamuro in late Edo period, was the youngest daughter of So-etsu Aoki. He was described as a medical doctor in Agenosho in Tempo period in Towa Town History Book.
According to the book “Shusuke Aoki” (Dr. Shusuke Aoki Honoring Association, 1941), Moto’s father So-etsu was “So-etsu III”. His younger brother Gentoh was the father of Shusuke and Kenzo, the famous medical doctors practiced Western medicine in late Edo period. Thus, Moto was a cousin of Shusuke and Kenzo.
Shusuke Aoki was a medical doctor of Takachika Mohri, the lord of Choshu clan in late Edo period. He spread vaccination against smallpox in the clan. Kenzo became a medical doctor of the Emperor Meiji.
The book “Shusuke Aoki” describes that So-etsu II, the great-great-grandfather of Moto, was the youngest son of Sobei Tomozawa, the second son of Soemon-Noriaki, and married into the Aoki Family. It means that Shusuke and Kenzo were descendants of Soemon-Noriaki, the originator of Tomozawa Family.
