On July 28, we showed the Japanese version of the two part NHK documentary on Japanese-Americans in Hawaii.
Although the English version was shown on the Hawaii public TV station, the Japanese version is 10 minutes longer for each part.
I prepared a handout and did my best to translate the Japanese narration.
Joy and Lester Tanji attended. They were featured in the return to Okikamuro in part 1.
The English version of both parts is now available on Vimeo.

The presentation was held at the 100th Infantry Battalion Memorial Clubhouse. The 100th Infantry Battalion is the famous Nikkei battalion created during World War II. The clubhouse manager has roots in Suo-Oshima and has helped me with Kamurokai gatherings in the past.
The meeting room is air-conditioned which was nice during this hot summer.
There weren't that many Hawaii Okikamurokai members who attended because they already saw the English version of the program on TV. Maybe five members attended. However, the presentation itself was very well attended by clubhouse members and other interested people including Laura Ruby who was our guest speaker last year. I would guess maybe 25 to 30 people attended although some people came late and other people had to leave early. The clubhouse also provided refreshments. I'm very thankful to them for providing a wonderful location.
