I'm so sorry that my report about the Hawaii Okikamurokai Shinnenkai is so delayed. We actually met on Saturday, March 8 at Ikoi Hall at Jodo Mission of Hawaii.
Our group was small this year, but we still enjoyed the fellowship.
Our speaker was Mr. Steve Migdol. He could not attend our meeting last year, but he was available this year,
so he could give his presentation himself. He has written a screenplay on the famous 100th Battalion of Nisei soldiers and is hoping to have it made into a movie.
After his talk, we had a Chinese buffet lunch and relaxed to enjoy each other's company. In fact, I was so relaxed that, other than the group photo, I forgot to take pictures! Thankfully, other attendees took pictures so we have a record of Mr. Migdol's presentation.
Recently, another Okikamuro descendant found the Hawaii Okikamurokai and has eagerly joined our group. Slowly, our group is finding descendants who want to reconnect with Kamuro.
Aloha,
Marie Otani
