Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the aftermath of the Hiroshima G7, this is the first time in five years that the Hiroshima Kamuro Club has been held. Many members have grown older and are no longer able to participate, so this time there were only 20 participants. The event was made possible thanks to the efforts of Chairman Yamada Minoru and Secretary General Fujimoto Shigefumi. This year, in particular, former Chugoku Shimbun reporter Sadao gave a presentation on the story of Nakata Yoshimatsu, who was born in Okikamuro and moved to Hawaii. Nakata Yoshimatsu was an assistant to the famous American novelist Jack London and has been attracting attention as a person who had a great influence on London.

Greetings from the head priest of Hakuseiji, Shizuo Niyama. As the chairman of the Shiraki Village Community Council, he participated in the opening ceremony of Okikamuro Seaside Campground and Chikamuro Garden. We expect great things to come. Last year, four people including James Nakata, grandson of Yoshimatsu Nakata, visited Hakuseiji to visit the graves of their ancestors. We will continue to use Hakuseiji as a base of information for Hawaii and other overseas destinations.

Greetings from Masatomo Yagi, chairman of the Tokyo Kamuro Party. We have published a commemorative magazine for the 70th of the Tokyo Kamuro Party. We had a hard time asking for manuscripts, but we were able to publish it in April. We have received many positive comments after reading it.

Greetings from Tomiyuki Miyamoto, former president of the Kansai Kamuro Party. Starting this year, Takashi Saito will take over as president of the Kansai Kamuro Party.

A presentation on Yoshimatsu Nakata, who emigrated to Hawaii from Okikamuro Island, by Shinsaku Satao (former reporter for the Chugoku Shimbun). There is little information on Yoshimatsu Nakata's background, who was a personal assistant to the famous American author Jack London and had a great influence on him, so an American journalist was asked to investigate. Currently, Mami Fujiwara, an associate professor at Yamaguchi University, is investigating materials such as the magazine "Kamuro" and the diary that Yoshimatsu left behind during his time in California.
