H/C water mixing faucet with shower in my bath room started to leak very little amount of water which is negligible. For testing purpose, I put pail under the faucet for one night. Almost half of the pail was filled with leaked water. I thought it’s sealing packing must be old and this problem will be solved if it is replaced because that this faucet was installed about 10 years ago by plumber shop near by my home.
May be I can do repair work. However to fix H/C water mixing faucet is my first experience even though I have fixed water tap many times before. The body is cylindrical, fitted sideways to the wall, a dial for adjusting the mixing degree of the hot water and water to the left, and with a lever for switching the faucet and shower to the right. I have absolutely no idea what kind of structure is inside.
Anyway I better to ask it to the maker. There is no indication about the maker. There is no type number too. When I looked around carefully it, there is tiny logo of the maker on shower head. I have checked web page of the maker and found many similar shape products in the home page. It must be the product of that maker.
I phoned to the product center of the maker with number displayed on that web page. Product center answered it may be our product and find the type number of the product which is marked behind the product using hand mirror. I followed the request and found it. This is the product of the maker. The product center said that they can send new product with cash on delivery. He said that there is manual with the product.
This structure is very complicated and new to me. I felt culture shock because I imagined much more simple structure more like simple water tap with cone. I felt this structure is something from different world. I closed main cock tightly and started to replace the faucet carefully following the manual. I could finish the replacement work while it took time to take out the old lever. I tested the hot water lever at first time and all of a sudden, shower rained down on my head. I closed the lever immediately and have started all replacement work again. I installed some parts in opposite way. This time it worked normal. Hot and cool water came out normally. There is no leak. Everything has settled down.
At this time, I recalled that I asked plumber who was on advertisement of newspaper to fix the clogged toilet. He invoiced me several ten thousand yen. This time’s repair may also cost such amount of money if you asked him. This time it costs only few thousand yen. I think it is worth to challenge small things.
