Before I knew it, I was 72 years old and several of my classmates had passed away.
There are some people whose whereabouts and what they are doing are unknown.
Time passed...
When we move from elementary school to junior high school, students from Sare also attend Kamuro Junior High School. When student in Sare started attending school by Setomaru, my circle of friends increased, but there were only 12 students from sare (6 boys and 6 girls) in one class. There were 32 students in one class including Kamuro's friends. It was a small class at the time, with one class for each of the first, second, and third grade.
The population outflow began in the mid-1960s and then accelerated rapidly.
The school building was brand new the year I entered elementary school (the new elementary school building opened in 1958), and junior high school was transferred to Towa Junior High School in 1966 when three schools (Mori, Wada, and Okikamuro) were merged. My classmates and I were the last students to finish our third year at Okikamuro Junior High School, but the graduation ceremony was held in the gymnasium of Towa Junior High School. I was not familiar with it and I don't remember it even now.
I remember that I was the first student to graduate from Towa Junior High School, and my attendance number was always number 1. I graduated in 1967, but I graduated from Towa Junior High School. (Even though I didn't attend Towa Junior High School?) Therefore, Okikamuro Junior High School became deserted in March 1967 as a junior high school with no students.
The last graduating class will be the March 1966 graduates, the same class as Reverend Niiyama. Our class of 1967 feels a bit half-hearted, like we're graduating from Okikamuro Junior High School (but why are we graduating from Towa Junior High School, which I never went to???).
The school song is the Okikamuro Junior High School song to the end.
‘The waves of the Seto Inland Sea, Iyonada...’
I've never sung other than this song before, I don't even know the school song of Towa Junior High School, I don't even know how to get there from Kamuro? I don't even know where it is.
As I write this, I'm starting to get angry.
