When I saw the repair man of engines for the fishing boat before entering TAKEDA ironworks at PUSAN in Korea, his pants was getting dirt by pure black like a wall with oils. I thought it was a dirty works. I remembered that my grandfather was always saying that a money should be got with a dirt works and spent fairly. I thought it would be a good job and talked to Jousuke Ishimaru and I could join in TAKEDA ironworks. I was wishing to establish own company independently in the future from when I joined in TAKEDA ironworks. My grandfather was talked to me that you should be a boatman in the boat and a master carpenter for a carpenter and a head of sardine rather than a tail of whale. I was aiming to become a good management rather than a full-fledged craftsman. I was promoted by jumping over a senior fellow from a trainee to a manager to distribute a salary to a stuff at 3 years passed when I joined in TAKEDA ironworks. I was dedicated to make a quotation for the repair fee of the engines in the boats which came back in the night. The common fee for a repair in the night was three times higher than a repair in the daylight, but my quotation for my works was 4 or 5 times higher.

A president of TAKEDA ironworks told to me that you should be negotiated to reduce the cost. I said to him that I did not work to accept reduction, therefore if client wanted reduction, I would refuse the works. He said to me that even if you said so, please did not lose the good customers. A captain and a chief engineer told me that the things which you repaired did not happen any problem again. They said that even if a roller of a winch would be changed, but never happen a problem and therefore they would often be questioned form other boatmen about where you got a repair because it was very good.
So they suggested me that nobody negotiated reduction because a captain and a chief engineer were saying to pay the cost which Yamada quoted without negotiation of reduction. The collection of money was requested to assign me from the customers. Since it was an excellent customers, the president allowed me to collect money. Eventhough the quotation was very higher one so that the president suggested me to be negotiated reduction from the customers, the president believed me because I received banking check at the same price as quotation without reduction. One day, I confessed that it was not interesting for me to just repair an engine when only I and the president were in the office. I proposed him to make own engines and sell it. Then a president was concerning about if it would be sold well. So I committed him to sell it by myself. But he was still worried about it. After several days passed, the president told me that he had decided to make own engine and called engineers from Japan. A president asked me to sell new engine. Then I went to each owners of the boats to collect money and asked them to buy new engine from TAKEDA ironworks. However, almost all boat owners were worried about new engine, so I said to them no problem. However I could not get any good feedback from them. So finally I told to them that I cannot repair your engine any more.

I would like to refuse repair engine for customer who did not accept to apply new engine from TAKEDA ironworks, I told them. When I called them later, they said to me that we could go to fishing without rest because Yamada would repair the engine even at 1:00 am or 2:00 am. If one boat would take rest, another boat must take rest.

If two boats would take rest, it would be caused a big impact on owners of the boats because owners had to pay a personal expense without incoming by selling fish. Therefore if you would take a responsibility for new engine, they said to me that they would make a decision to apply new engine from TAKEDA ironworks by believing Yamada. When we tested the first boat settled with new engine after putting new engine for trial at the factory in TAKEDA ironworks, a president was very grad to see the boat settled with new engine which was made by TAKEDA ironworks and it worked well. I can remember his face with pleasure very much right now. The president depended on me after this.
